Uhms and Ahs Meeting Filler Counter
Communication and meeting tool
Tracks filler words, repeated words, and verbal pauses during meetings, speeches, evaluations, and practice sessions.
How it works
The tool lets you add speakers and tap a large on-screen button each time a filler word or verbal pause is heard. Counts update instantly during the meeting and can be corrected if needed.
At the end of the session, the tool generates a plain-language oral report summarising:
• total filler counts
• counts by speaker
• highest recorded count
• speakers with no fillers recorded
The tool works on desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. All information stays on the device and is not uploaded to a server.
When to use it
- Best used for Toastmasters meetings, public speaking practice, speech evaluations, facilitator training, interview preparation, classroom speaking exercises, and communication coaching where manual tracking of filler words helps improve speaking clarity and pacing.
- Not used for formal employee performance reviews, disciplinary processes, automated speech recognition, linguistic research, or situations requiring precise or legally defensible speech analysis.
- Audience: public speakers, Toastmasters members, facilitators, trainers, teachers, students, communication coaches, meeting chairs, and anyone looking to reduce filler words and improve verbal communication skills.
Notes and limits
- Assumption: The umhs and ahs counter accurately hears and records filler words in real time.
- Known constraint: counts depend entirely on manual tracking and human judgment. Fast-paced discussions or overlapping speakers may reduce accuracy.
- Edge case: speakers with similar names, interruptions, or side conversations may affect tracking clarity during large meetings or hybrid sessions.
